Recording Cello for Molly and Mack on CBeebies

Recently I had a recording session for Molly and Mack on CBeebies. I was contacted by the composer Paul Honey and asked to record a cello part for his amazing and colourful sound track for Molly and Mack.

Justin Pearson was cellist and we recorded the session at his house. I used two AT4050 microphones to capture the sound. One was placed near the f hole and the other a further distance away. This enabled us to capture a more room resonant version. Using both tracks and mixing between them gives you the flexibility of both worlds.

Working from home

Being able to work this way also enables a lot of flexibility, without tying yourself into expensive studio costs. We were able to split the session over several days to accommodate writing deadlines. When working from home it’s all about getting a clean sound as possible and when close micing - this is possible in environments not acoustically treated. Reverb can be added at a later stage.

I also offer a professional recording recording service and have a range of professional mics available. Contact me if you would like to learn more.
